Blackballpen’s Paper

I could swear it’s a first

I don’t even feel like writing this because I know I could be crucified for writing it. Here it goes – Q:Is Mandela the first person to celebrate a 90th birthday? A:No! Then why the big fuss.I mean really, there must be some people wishing him a happy birthday who forget to wish their loved ones a happy birthday. He is even called a messiah now, COME ON.Ok I admit he had a part to play in our freedom but all this hype is TOO much. No wonder some people think he is the anti – Christ!( 4 666 4) ha ha ha, thats classic and stupid! Well I don’t think so, but I think he is a god of some sort.

Never in my life have I heard so many birthday wishes. Morning live(on SABC 2) has been reading loads of birthday messages through out the week! Give us a break! or I should rather say give ME a break. I’m reminded of the day or week or month he came out of prison(February 10 or 11, 1990) I still remember where I was and I was only nine years old - Mandela this Mandela that. Geez I really sound like I have major issues neh!?! maybe I do, maybe I don’t or maybe I’m not scared to write what I think. But why the big fuss?

Anyway, Happy 90th birthday ke Madiba. Kodwa inoba sowudikwe finish yilo phrase xhego lam.

  1. Eish Dini,I’m disappointed in you, How how could you even bring out the myth about 46664,first of all no one chooses their cell number in prison, so I don’t see the link between that number and Mandela being an Anti-Christ. mna uMandela ndimbona as a hero, with other veterans who were in Robin Island.Ofcoz he’s not the first person to turn 90,but I can assure he is the only 90 year to have spent 27 in prison, not because he robbed a bank to satisfy his desires for money and luxury, but because he was fighting for the freedom of South Africa. Wena Dini you’re 27 years old ryt?Imagine if everyday of your spent in jail..look at the things you have done aphe bomini bakho and think of Mandela who didnt have the freedom to do any of them during his time in jail. One of the reasons why WE(me and others who appreciate uSophitsho)is he is not selfish like other African leaders take uMugabe, he lead his country to independence from colonialism and now he doesn’t want to let go of his power…Mandela didn’t do that, he only served one term as president and gave way to others

  2. Well unlike you the 11th of Feb is very important to some of us………Nt only was i born on that same day bt history was made. Granted not evrybody will share the same sentiments over this great man, granted not everybody sees hm as the greatest but South Africans have alot to thank him for, regardless of the “hype” surrounding him, other heroes of the struggle have died. He embodies the spirit of liberation and subsequently the spirit of the other great men in the struggle. He’s a symbol of an age old struggle. Jst as BCM is ressurecting in the youth of today, South Africas past is evident in his great life. Hate it or love it he is our countries definition of democracy, equality and our rainbow nation………..i could go on forever.

  3. If i hear anyone ever talking about Mandela in my presents, I swear i am going to make a fist with my hand and punch them on the first. let alone the fact that he is 90 BUT THE WORLD WORSHIPS him. Sorry I believe him to be the mark of the beast of some sort. something just doesnt sit well with me when his name is mentioned. This guy isnt the greatest leader SA has ever had, if at all but I guess some people are born for greatness but this is way too much.

All I wish him isnt a happy birthday. I do though wish he could rest in peace, he has run the race. Can someone else take the spotlight now? how long are they going to preserve him for.

Die Madiba die. (for your own good)

  4. I agree why the big fuss? Not to sound ungrateful but God Damn, every year we must eat Mandela’s birthday and quite frankly I’m sick of it, gatvol if you ask me.

Yes we owe our freedom to him and yes my black now educated and working ASS should be grateful.I am, believe me I am BUT! how much more can one take,he himself must be fed up but putting on a public front,Lord knows I would. Don’t you think he man wants a quite birthday with family and friends and not being hounded by us every year,he’s getting deaf and listening to a live concert performance ain’t worth shit to him, half the songs,HE CAN’T HEAR. I sound like someone with Mandela issues but I don’t.I just think he would like a break from all the fuss and so would we.
